David Campany est un commissaire, un écrivain, un éditeur et un enseignant.

Il a travaillé avec de nombreuses institutions dans le monde entier, notamment le MoMa de New York, le Centre Pompidou, la Tate, le Stedelijk Museum et la Photographers Gallery de Londres. Il a écrit plus de deux cents essais sur la photographie, ainsi que plusieurs œuvres de fiction. Il enseigne à l’université de Westminster, à Londres, et est le curateur attitré de l’International Center of Photography, à New York.
